Some days you should just go home and drink a cool beverage...
Fresh install this morning.
Set up first test server (SVR001) and got it running.
Downed, modify notes.ini, point to 2nd server name (SVR002), restart.
The console wrapper shows that I'm running SVR001. I'm not used to working with the jconsole so I note this and move along.
Open my client and try and open log.nsf on SVR001 - fails (good thing).
Now I try and open log.nsf on SVR002, also fails (not a good thing).
Check name.nsf and realize that because I didn't start SVR002 from scratch, there are a couple of docs missing, specifically the Connection between my production box and SVR002 and the initial Configurations document (not config, Configurations). I copy/paste the SVR001 docs, modify all references to point to SVR002 and bingo - bango- bongo, I can now open log.nsf on SVR002.
Except for the console looking like it's running SVR001, I think I've convinced myself that I'll be able to set up the new box with any random name, replicate the production dbs to the new box, down everything, change pointers in Notes.ini, flip the IP addresses to the new box, bring the new box up as my current production box name and I should be in business.
Thank you both for your responses.
